The Story Of Us
How We Met
Our love story began in April 2012. I was attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Patrick was going to Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. It was spring break and the most popular destination for college kids was Lake Havasu, AZ. I headed to Havasu with my best girlfriends and I had no idea that once I arrived my life would be forever changed. I mean, do you really plan on meeting your future husband on spring break when you're 21? I sure didn't think so! I was standing in line to check into my hotel room when a 6 foot 2, blonde, hottie with perfectly chissled abs came up to me and asked, "Are your eyes fake?" I thought that was a very odd pick up line but I went with it and joked back, "No, but my hair is" beacuse I was wearing extensions. Needless to say, the rest is history. Below is a picture from the day we met!
Long Distance Relationship
Patrick and I began spending hours on the phone and in the car driving to visit each other after we met. I was in my third year at UNLV studying broadcast journalism with a minor in theater. I had always planned on moving to Southern California once I graduated college so we decided that a long distance relationship was totally worth it because we knew we could be together somewhat shortly. Once I graduated I packed up my things, found a job in fashion, moved to Hollywood and lived with a girlfriend of mine. Patrick and I could finally only be a short drive away from each other and have a normal relationship.
After about 2 and a half years of dating Patrick popped the big question! We were on our first vacation together on a cruise through the Caribbean. Our first stop of the cruise was in Cozumel, Mexico. We rented a moped and started exploring the cute little island and we stumbled upon this beautiful beach with not a soul in sight. We pulled over and walked down near the beach to find this awesome water hole that was exploding! Patrick told me to go stand in front of it and he would get some pictures. I was facing the water hole with my back towards him. He told me to jump in the air for a cool shot. So I jumped a couple times. When I turned around to ask if he got a good shot he was down on one knee. I literally burst into tears. I have never been so overwhelmed with emotions I can barely remember what he said! The most special part about our proposal was that we hadn't said I love you yet. I know it sounds crazy, but Patrick had told me from the get go that he was saving the words "I love you" for the girl he was going to marry. I felt like like the most special girl in the world once I heard him say those words to me. We probably said I love you a thousand times that day and told every stranger we came across that we had just gotten engaged. We were seriously on cloud nine and I wish I could re-live that moment over and over. Fortunately, Patrick recorded the proposal on his Go Pro so I can some what re-live it. See video below (sound isn't very loud) as well as a few pictures!
Happily Ever Abbott
I spent the next 8 months planning our dream wedding. We got married at Bel Vino Winery in Temecula, CA. It was by far the best day of our lives.
The morning after our wedding we immediately took off to Barcelona, Spain where we spent a few days exploring the city before taking off on a 10 day cruise though the Mediterranean. We had the time of our lives exploring Europe! After our honeymoon we were so excited to get home and start our lives together in our very first place in Seal Beach, CA.
Up Next: Baby Girl Abbott!
We couldn't be more excited to bring our baby girl into the world end of March, 2017! I've decided to start this blog because we are going through such exciting times, and I thought what better way to document it? I hope you enjoy our journey into parenthood!
